I scrapped my forearm near the elbow and took off some layers of skin. My daughter cleaned the wound, sprayed with antibiotic, covered it with clean pad and wrapped it up with gauze ( ? ).Previous band aid didn't sick. After changing the wound several times in a week it still hasn't formed a scab. I told my daughter I thought I should leave it uncovered after sprayng it with spray skin. When I do it slowly starts to form a scab. My daughter says this is wrong! Says it heals better when covered. Need an answer!

blood clots when exposed to air. Covering the wound for the first 24-48 hours keeps outside infection from getting in, but after that time period, your skin will benefit and heal quicker from being exposed to the air. I would take the bandages off, but continue to wash the area with an antibacterial wash for another day or two.

DANTE,
SCRAPES HEAL BETTER/FASTER WHEN EXPOSED TO THE AIR. THIS WILL HAPPEN BY A SECONDARY INTENTION, OR FROM THE INSIDE OUT, RATHER THAN PRIMARY- WHEN YOU CUT YOUR FINGER WITH A KNIFE FROM THE OUTSIDE IN. PUT SOME NEOSPORING IN A THIN COAT ON THE OUTSIDE AND LEAVE THIS OPEN T THE AIR.

You are right. Lose the dressing and let it heal up in the open air.
