Calling Dog fighting a sport like hunting?
((CBS/AP) NEW YORK New York Knicks guard Stephon Marbury defended Michael Vick, calling dogfighting a sport and comparing it to hunting.
Marbury spoke Monday about the federal dogfighting conspiracy charges against Vick while promoting his basketball shoe in Albany, N.Y.
"I think it's tough," Marbury said, according to Albany TV station Capital News 9. "I think, you know, we don't say anything about people who shoot deer or shoot other animals. You know, from what I hear, dogfighting is a sport. It's just behind closed doors." On Monday, Vick said through a lawyer that he will plead guilty to a federal charge of conspiracy to travel in interstate commerce in aid of unlawful activities and conspiracy to sponsor a dog in an animal fighting venture. He also faces possible prosecution in Virginia.
"I think it's tough that we build Michael Vick up and then we break him down," Marbury said. "I think he's one of the superb athlete"

He was answering a question from a reporter with his honest opinion. He should have said "Next question" like he usually does, but he was promoting his product and didn't want to appear anti-press.

The real question is why would a reporter ask Marbury this. Who cares what Marbury thinks about Vick?

He's not the only black athlete to put his foot in his mouth on this topic, though Vilma, Portis and Samuels all made their foolish remarks prior to the FBI stepping in when the locals tried covering up the case.
If fighting dogs was the only crime here I might agree a tad bit with Marbury, but Vick killed dogs viciously and did illegal gambling too.
Yes, the Vick brothers were both superb athlete's are decided that they were above the law...and now they are both out of the NFL and heading towards dead broke with only themselves to blame.

Marbury= Never has someone done so little with so much talent. He probably wants people to remember he is alive, at least I hope he is not stupid enough to believe the crap coming out of his mouth.

/ hunting for food is ok.

hunting for fun is just as bad as making your dogs fight. In both cases, animals lose their lives for no reason.

Either way, Marbury should stay away from all of this. /

Not too smart of a PR move. This is from the guy that wants to leave the NBA and go play in Europe. What happened to the cool guy that made cheap sneakers?
