Does anyone else here feel the same way? I volunteer at equine rescues on weekends and I'm disgusted with the owners of these horses! One Thoroughbred ex-racer was left in a stall smaller than a cross-tie! He couldnt even turn around! he had no fresh water and was up to his knees in dung! It just makes me sick to see horses like those in this video..... (warning, not for the faint of heart.... I could barely watch it)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=iAsvW-bko5U
and this is the EDITED VERSION!!!!

And the thoroughbred was a recent rescue at one of the equine rescues I volunteer at...They cut 10 whole inches off just one of his front hooves but by some miracle his legs didn't suffer permanent damage

equine rescues ARE alot like spcas... they rescue abused horses, rehabilitate them, and then put them up for adoption. Alot of them actually work WITH the local humane society.

I personally think the punishment should fit the crime. The judge should sentence that owner to weeks of living in the same conditions. I think if people had to live in it that they might actually learn a lesson.

Yes abuse should be stop. But all abuse should be stop.
When I was in school and even now. There is child getting beat on. And the school and other childern are not doing anything about it. How many time have you said to someone that person is to fat or dumb. How many of you think that thin people are good looking. But someone just built a little heaver is ugly.
And when my friends drag me to a sale barn. They resuce people were leaving young horses that need training go to feed lots. And bid high on a old lame horse. That would have to be put down in a couple of years. Is it to say I saved a horse and take photos. When the young horse they would have to do some work.
The good horse dealers will take and work good horses and find homes for them.
And I do not like horses in barns. They should be outside other then to be feed. And horses should have hay or grass in front of them all the time. And if the horse is not fit to be use. It should not be sold to someone.
So when will you quit abusing horses and people.

Regarding the Thoroughbred: Call your local ASPCA or sheriff's office to report animal abuse/cruelty. I live in a rural community and we have had a few horse cruelty charges in this area over the past few years. The vets have had to put some animals down, some were lying dead in the pastures already and those that they were able to rescue, more oftentimes than not, were underfed and weak. The horses were treated and given (sold?) to new owners.
Seriously, though. Find out what the laws are in your state for animal abuse/cruelty and act by contacting the appropriate people. The horses will be glad you did.
PS: I didn't look at the video...I'm a person who can't stand watching any kind of animal abuse; I can't even watch Animal Planet!!!

That was a disgusting movie, but I'm one of those people who can sit through something like that without shedding a tear or getting sick and just want to kill the guy who did it afterwards.
Poor horses, but at least that guy was caught. Unfortunately there are still far too many people like him out there who do the same or worse to animals, and I doubt all of them could ever be stopped. There will always be sick, cruel people who take pleasure in(or at least see nothing wrong with) abusing innocents.

People lucky enough to own a horse and then abuse or neglect it should be buried up to the waist UPSIDE DOWN in a steamy unmucked stall in the middle of August and made to stay until their skin blisters off.
Those of us who wish every day that we had the circumstances for a horse have no tolerance for this hideous cruelty.
THANK YOU for the video clip. I know they are hard to watch, but this is the only way to make the general public aware of such horrible crimes. Keep up the good fight- NEVER surrender!!!
EDIT: Can anyone tell me the band and the name of the song playing in this video? It is just absolutely perfect and I must have it to listen to on nights when I am angry and scheming about how to stop this S**T from happening again.

Yes I totally am sick of abuse to children, horses and all animals.
I used to be real active in animal welfare(welfare is totally diffrent from animal rights-welfare actually tries to get the job done)anyways it's amazing how people neglect their animals.I think slaughter for horses was very cruel, but now we have a lot of unwanted or ill mannered horses that will be in rescue -well never mind that's a whole new debate.
but yes people can be so cruel to eachother and animals.

I agree, no animal or human should ever suffer at the hands of another.
However, there are just natural born jerks in the world and unfortunately they hide their effects really well and luckily this one was caught. Theres always thousands more in his place.
I have said it before and i'm saying it again, blessed are the horses that find their way into the lives of people that are knowledgeable, responsible and willing to learn and make them a life long commitment.
The rest, I hope have a special place in heaven. And the ones that did it to them, I hope have a special place in hell. That goes for human atrocities also.

I'm kind of confused. Yes that is absolutely horrible! But your helping out. Aren't you supposed to take care of him? Also, why did this stable rescue them? They would be better of at the SPCA. Then some one that was more experienced and smarter, could take care of him.

I cannot stand when any animals are abused. Animals are helpless and they don't know why these things are happening to them. I don't understand why someone would abuse a horse or any animal. I always ask the question of "What did that animal ever do to you to deserve this sort of treatment?".
I could never hurt my horse like that, or any animal for that matter. Animal abuse is for those who are weak. They hurt animals because they know they can. Just heartless individuals with no respect for life.

Same is done to Cows, sheep, goats, Turkeys, Chickens all livestock that is butchered. They live horrible lives and then suffer terrible abuse being bundled together and shipped to the killers. But then- look what the poor masses of humanity suffer so their governments can gain land and oil. Greed the power behind it all! Just follow the money and you will find the bodies along the way.
