My boss is pretty cool. He's the type that will give you enough rope to hang yourself with. He is straightforward. On my first day at my job he made it very clear that he will not babysit his employees and hold their hand every step of the way.

Yes I do. He does not micro-manage, let's us do what we were hired to do. He stands behind us when we make decisions. Even if we screw up he doesn't hit us in the head with a phone.

I like a boss that will teach me what I need to know, and then leave me alone to figure it out, but is there when I need him.

If your boss "gives you enough rope to hang yourself", then he (or she) is only looking to get the job done at your expense; arrogant and ignoble, if you ask me. However, if you are expert enough that you shouldn't need hand-holding or a safety net, then you'll have to accept that.

My current job is a big project where I work for various groups under different bosses. I get along with most (one was convinced that I sabotaged her work (I didn't) and another is bipolar (read: he's a loonie!)), and I've been "protected" on a couple of occasions (never mind the details) by one of the VP's who, after a year on the job, knows that I do good work.

I had a couple of jobs where I couldn't do anything to please anyone! In both cases, I was "let go" before I would have quit, and I was a happy camper, yet, everyone else seemed satisfied, if not "happy", at those jobs, so it's all a matter of perspective. Not everyone's a good fit at a particular place.

BTW, in three jobs that I had, I had a "gut" feeling that they weren't going to work out, and, of course, they didn't, but I often wondered if I had "poisoned" my relationship with my bosses and co-workers because of that "gut" feeling. Who knows?

Not only do I get along with my boss, I get along with everyone in the office =o) We're a very small office (20 or less people) & a lot of us have worked here for numerous years (not me, only 2) so we're all fairly close. Everyone is pretty easy going.

My boss is also cool enough that he feels I'm not being compensated enough for my job so he's gonna try to get my job title switched w/ corporate so that I CAN be compensated better. How nice is that?? =o) I'm a receptionist but I do more than just answer the phone....I also assist in other departments....was even considered part of accounting for a while.

My boss is my best friend. Really. We were close friends before he opened his own business. I was one of the first people he hired. He's nice to work for. We work very hard, but in general, we have a good time at it. If things get hectic and stressful, I try to calm him down as much as possible, and it usually works.

That is how my old boss was. But the other boss didn't like anyone. There is always one in every job!

I didn't get along with my boss, he was a major micromanager and he was also a sexist pig. If you didn't kiss his *** and respond to his advances he will do anything in his power to bring you down. Sadly all of the sexual harrassment suits did nothing to him-he's still there.

I got 29 different bosses.

I get along with 4, hate 24 of them, and want to Latrell Spreewell the Big Boss. (if you're too young to remember Latrell Spreewell, he was a NBA star who choked his coach)

He's okay. We get along most the time. But when we fight its bad, because we are both really stubborn and dont listen to the other person. (FYI, my boss is my dad) lol
