I checked the specifications, and this vehicle does take r-134a, so i refilled that and it is good. the a/c even cools, but not consistently. sometimes while sitting for awhile in the sun, the car will make a whine like the air is trying to come on, but it doesn't get cool. then after a little while, you can hear it finally kick on, and it will get COLD in a matter of seconds, but it seems like it won't consistently stay running. I am out of ideas as to what it may be, and it is getting HOT in georgia!

It could be a freon leak or it could be your compressor is going out . In either case take it to a mechanic and they would be best to advise you . My compressor just went last week and I found out it will be 300.00 just for the compressor alone . good luck .

Also could be a bad expansion valve. It must be service by an AC technician.
