absolutely. the government should have to spend as much money taking care of the vets as they do making war. 1 trillion spent in Iraq to make war and then they let the soldiers suffer medically, physically, psychologically, and emotionally. those fat and wealthy politicos that send our soldiers into harms way and then refuse to supply the vets with necessary care are disgraceful traitors to their nation and should have their personal accounts bankrupted to pay for the care of the troops.

This is the cost of war that everyone forgets about.
People who have never been to war can never understand what it does to Soldiers emotionally. The human mind can't handle the repeat atrocities that a grunt is exposed to.
Veterans benefits are always one of the first cuts in budget cuts PSDT is incurable and the government doesn't want to take care of soldiers that made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

SOME of them, not ALL of them, but SOME of them standing on the street corners asking for money are completely fabricating anything of or having to do with being a soldier of war in the past. They're LYING to try to appeal to your sense of duty in GIVING them money.
The ones who legitimitely fought for our country and are now living on the streets because post-traumatic stress syndrome or whatever other circumstance prevents them from working or having a normal life should absolutely be afforded every privilege the government they fought for can provide them.
The trick is getting it away from the illegal alliens long enough to distribute it to OUR deserving needy.

Contact the Veteran's Administration about this issue. THEY get PAID to deal with it. You get TAXED to deal with it.
On the other hand, people who stand on the corner and BEG are usually mentally challenged (a bit crazy?) and at one time in our history, we had institutions to take care of them.
John Kennedy had a sister who was institutionalized and he swore to eliminate those institutions.
That was done.
Now they are on the streets for us to take care of publicly.

this ... like life, is about choice
depending on each individuals own story, it can be comedy ~ tragedy
your choice is to figure out if this question in your mind is a calling ... and you want to make the effort to help, and create change ... and understand
or point fingers and blame, sitting on your couch ... as many Americans like to do (see Emily B.)

Philip H., you know of course that those institutions you referred to were closed by Ronald Reagan when he was Governor of California.

No. They should get jobs and contribute to society like the rest of us (ex-soldiers). If the war was not so unjust, we wouldn't have so much sympathy.
