business week poll...US troops oppose bush it appears. what do you think?

President Bush's war in Iraq faces growing opposition from those who are on the front lines: soldiers, their families and veterans, including high-ranking officers.

A bipartisan poll published by Business Week in December showed approval for the president at a mere 36 percent among soldiers, their families and veterans.

"I think the American people were conned into this [war]," said retired Marine Corps Gen. Anthony Zinni, a Bush supporter in 2000. Zinni, who was chief of U.S. operations in the Middle East until three years ago, also charged the administration with failing to plan an occupation that would rebuild Iraq, provide internal stability and advance democracy.

Zinni is right. Iraq was a lie built on a lie. Bush wanted that war and got it.

Newsweek is misleading with these numbers. Although the numbers are factually correct, the "headline" is actually a bald-faced lie.

Do a little background research, and what you find out is although the troop approved of Bush at 78 percent, the families of troops (a much higher numeric value) approved at a 8 percent approval.

When they average those two groups together, the result is 36 percent, but that certainly doesn't mean the troops disapprove of Bush. It means that families who have been missing their loved ones for years, disapprove of the person who sent them away.

Gee, thats a shocker, now isn't it?

Of course, newsweek doesn't come out and say that, and indeed, they interview a military member who is one of the 22% who disapprove of Bush.

With misleading media, you have to research the background numbers. There's lies, there's darn lies, and then there's statistics.

Lets see.
They troops reelected him while in Iraq.

I don't know of a single war were the press keep polling the troops like this one.

There are troops who say it is worth it too.

So which do you want to believe to be true is the question.

I have lot of respect for Marines in uniform but hose who are now former Marines I wonder about like Murtha calling them cold blooded murders and this Zinn guy.

I think those guys have lost touch with the Corp.

After World War II, the Allies took polls in Germany asking German citizens if they still supported Hitler. And even as they stood in the rubble, fully 10% said they did (and who knows how many were afraid to answer?)

So we have to presume that 10% of the 36% of soldiers and families who support Bush are lunatics. That leaves 26%, and as a former soldier, I'd sure like to talk to them and find out WTF they are thinking or drinking.

Aside from career officers, I can't imagine a front line soldier who would support this president. Certainly most of us serving in 1965-67 thought very little of LBJ.

As for the Business Week poll, it's true but it is an older poll, so I don't see the point of bringing this up today.

Bush is a warmonger that has made quite a bit of money off of the facade that is the Iraq War. I can't believe that people are still supporting this guy. If you have a shred of concisous thought you would see him for the tyrant that he is. Real Americans stand for peace, justice, and liberty, not death, destruction and profit.
