if you want to make your own ring tones you can download a program call Goldwave, i believe it is free & you can make your own ringtones & make them as long as you want......

Actually, go to 3Guppies.com. At the top click on the Ringtones Tab. At the top, you can create your own ringtones. Once you upload a file type, it lets you crop the portion of the song that you want. It's a really neat tool. Try it! : )

if u have a mobile that connects with your computer then u can jsut take songs from ur music and put them on ur phone(thats what i do but i have an updated phone) but it deppends on what type of phone u have? if it the basic ringtones i a cant help ya sorry
