yes, hands down... at least in term of outright power and large scale strategy.
smaller, more subversive groups would actually be more effect at counter insurgency though. and our military intelligence is laughable compared to our over all power.
Edit: I'd just like to add in.. at West Point they don't beat around the bush.. they tell it like it is... they even openly tell their cadets that the Iraqi situation has been horribly mishandled. .... They tell their Cadets that the US, in a battle royal could go blow for blow with the next 3 most powerful militaries in the world.
We are a Juggernaut. We are very good at blowing up stuff and toppling nations. What we are not good at is the small scale and tactical operations.

In my career I have worked with the following troops, German, Canadian, British, Saudi, Bulgarian, Kuati, French, Colombian, Italian, Spanish, Australian, South Korean, Belgem, Turkish, new Iraq forces, Russian, Israel and none of them can hold a candle to our Troops.

It will be the best, and will lead the world at the battle of Armageddon coming to a theater of operations near you in approximately 5-7 years. Bush will have no part in it, and he only gets credit for weakening the U.S. armed forces.

I would actually say that it is second to the Israeli army. It may be smaller, but when they want someone dead, they kill them . End of story, no questions asked. Those are some B.A.M.F.s

It was until Bush and friends got hold of it. Now the equipment is shot, the soldiers are exhausted and misused. Crappy training for what they have been thrown into. Not to mention how badly they are treated when they come home battered. I will say our troops are the best in the world. Too put up with this.

The ARE the most funded military in the world, and one of the largest, but best? That's subjective.

well look at it this way, as soon as the arctic ice cap thaws and china marches over it you will find out. and if the chinese army all lined their coast and pissed in the ocean the sea levels would raise atleast 10ft.
