Some people know they're doing it and it's just to get a reaction out of a person. They find it fun to upset others.
It is what it says...it's a game. I don't like those games.

Computer dating is just what it is sometimes it is a game for some and others do seek out the person of their dreams. Me I am old fashion and prefer to meet a person face to face and get to know them in a direct way. That way you can gauge that they are genuine of not. Although there is lot of pretenders in this world who maybe leading a double life and are still married. Anyway mate keep trying you will one day catch the fish that you want. You got the right bait and burly so keep dropping the hook and line in the ocean and you might catch the big one that doesn't get away.

Because some people are sadistic and like to manipulate the playing field so they feel they have the advantage. The trick here is that whether they know it or not is that they have to be smarter than the one they are playing the ruse on to be really effective. Besides most of them know how to begin but seldom have the drive to finish and are found out and vanquished by their prey. They have to learn not to bring so many blanks to the duel.

For pure enjoyment, or simply being nasty, or impressing others, or patronizing you , or their confused, or to get your attention. Clearly there are many reasons try not to read into them too much.

Some people just don't know what they want, so they string people along to hedge their bets until they decide.
