When a sentence is written we space out each word with a spacebar or manual (handwritten ) space. is there a name for this spacing?

In print journalism, it's called an "en" for a single space, or an "em" for a one-and-a-half space (likely stemming from the space the letters "n" and "m" used to take up in printing).

Good question... it doesn't have on that I know of, other than a space, but if someone comes up with an answer, I'd love to hear it!

You might want to look up the term "kern" or "kerning".

It isn't the space, per se, but the adjustment of spacing between words
