That happens to me all the time. Occasionally I'll ask them politely, and make an excuse or two about how they have changed. I haven't changed a bit since I was 14 or so and everyone says I still look like a kid now some 20 years later. However, I ran into an old high school classmate over the weekend and WOW! did she ever turn out to be milf. I bet she has dropped 100lbs since high school. She is totally gorgeous and I let her know that after she told me who she was.

It happens all the time in my town. I am a teacher and I have taught over 13,000 students in my career. There is always someone that remembers me and even some that I am now teaching their children. When I go back to my old home town I sometimes meet up with old classmates. about 90% of the have changed so much that I do not recognise them until they tell me their name. But there are a few that I recognise their voice. And there are a VERY few that have hardly changed at all. I hate them LOL (joke)

Yes!! I was recently at a local bar with one of my friends & the really cute bartender knew me but I had nooooooo idea who he was....knew my name & everything! (I guess my appearance hasn't changed much...damn) Apparently he dated a friend of mine (or friend of a friend, can't remember) back in high school but when he described the girl I was drawing a complete blank & told him I had noooo clue. It drove the both of us NUTS for the rest of the night & to this day I STILL can't figure out who he was talking about or who he is....his name doesn't even ring any bells either. Soooo odd!!!
On the flip side, I've run into numerous people I graduated high school with but of course most of them didn't know who I was....or at least didn't know my name if they knew of me or recognized me. I'm not surprised cause I was nowhere near popular in high school (I didn't care) BUT I'm a little more known than I figured....and not in a bad way either.

That has happened to me so many times. Usually I just smile and play along and pray for an excuse to get away from the person or I pray I remember who they are while I am standing there.

Yeah, someone recognized me in a Duane Read store because they had just seen my face on television an hour before. I was an audience member on the show "The People's Court".
He said: "Heyyyy, I know you? What the heck are you coming in our store for?" As if I was someone extremely famous. Ha ha.
Also, a guy pretended to recognize me...asking me if I hung out in every frickin neighborhood in the city--just to get my name and phone number. He was hitting on me.

That happens to me about 5 times a day. I can never remember peoples names so I just say something like "How are you doing, Man" It's really embarassing.

i did once at the mall and i never could figure out who it was so i just said "hey do you remember mary?" and she said "Yes". to which I followed with "she was just talking about you wondering what you have been up to down at the GAP, it would be a surprise to her if you would run down there and catch up with her real quick!" and she left towards the GAP really fast and i got out of there while I had a chance. I don't even know a mary either but apparently she did.

all the time! i can't see far away very well and i don't wear my glasses too often, so a lot of times people (especially people my mom worked/volunteered with) come up to me. the worst time was when i was on a date, and this woman comes up and says "hi claire! ohmygod you've gotten so much older and blah blah blah." i still have no clue who she was. i just smiled and nodded. and then my boyfriend was like 'who the hell was that?" and i think she heard him.
