Actually, it's for the exact same reason. While illegal immigration is an ECONOMIC issue, it still draws a lot of racists who use it as justification for their racism. In the same way, while exploring the complexities (and even legalities) of the state of Israel may be a POLITICAL issue, it still draws a lot of anti-semites who use it as justification for their bigotry.

The thing is, you have no clue about the things you are criticizing Israel for. The so-called Palestinians haven't been repatriated because they are being used as pawns by the Muslim world. No other explanation would explain why none of the other Arab states would allow them to assimilate into their country, nor will the Palestinians allow them back into their territory. As for it's settlement policy, the country is theirs, people lived there for decades, and all of a sudden they were forced to leave without compensation for their home or land. It would be like if the entire burough of Long Island were told they had a week to leave. Is there a blockade? Sort of. People can leave, but they have to come through checkpoints. If they didn't blow people up and launch rockets at the Israelis, maybe it would be different.

I'm Pro-Israel but I'm open to hear criticisms and engage in rational discussion. I agree Israel isn't perfect and has made mistakes but the far right is just so defensive of Israel it scares me. I thought conservatives would never use the "race card" but they do just like many liberal use it. It proves my point again that liberals and conservatives are the same. When you criticize something they are truly in favor of, they become hysterical. Apparently, if you're not Pro-Israel then you're a Jew hater. So much for the first amendment and not being politically correct, huh?

Have you ever been to a anti-war protest?
the signs you see that are about Israel don't differentiate between a Jew and an Israeli...
It is also a matter of "guilt by association". if you have two people being critical of Israel standing next to each other, both of the same basic political following, one is talking in a reasonable manner and using facts, the other is screaming "DEATH TO ISRAEL!" Who is going to get the most attention? and guess what the guy next to him is talking about the same thing, they must both agree, right?
Want to be critical of something fine, but move away from the ones screaming hatred.
Here is an example from San Fransisco http://www.zombietime.com/global_day_of_action_march_18_2006/IMG_5825.JPG
Now tell me that won't make people view everyone who is critical of Israel as being anti-Semitic!
Make it clear in your argument that you are not accusing Jews as a whole but rather the government of Israel. but if you surround yourself with people like the one shown in the picture then don't expect reasonable people to assume you are not in full agreement with them.

And why can't some people recognize that quite a bit of what they label as "anti Israel" or "anti Zionist" is actually thinly disguised anti semitism?
And why is it that critics of such are described as "far right"? Are you trying to imply that "regular right wing" and "left wing" would be incapable of recognizing anti semitism disguised as anti Zionism?

Of course it's the "race card". The far right are a contradiction in themselves, as they want abortion and gay marriage to be banned, but Israel has legalized abortion and has a great number of Gay's in openly in the military.
If anyone doubts it's true that Israel is as bigoted as they claim anti- Israli's are, read this.

If you criticise an illegal, brutal, immoral occupying power who don't have any reasonable excuse for their actions, who happen to be of a certain ethnicity, then the easiest way for them to wriggle out of the debate is to simply suggest that you are racist, turning you into the bad guy.
Like the vast majority of people who criticise Israel, I have no problem with jews or judaism. But I do have a problem with an illegal occupying power oppressing a native population.

I asked exactly the same question and was bombarded with "if you criticise isreal, you ARE a anti semite., Jews are in a tooth and nail struggle for their existance..by criticising them and not holding their enemies against the same moral standards - you are being anti jewish".

I have absolutely no problem with legitimate criticism of Israel. Legitimate is the key word in the preceding sentence, though. Read some of the "criticism" on here and elsewhere and tell me with a straight face it derives from anything other than anti-Semitism.

Because they are very quick to deflect remarks charges of Anti-Semitism and/or Anti-Islam from liberals.
They may be so used to being on the wrong side of the race card they know how the game is played.

All of the criticisms of Israel which I have seen on this site amount to anti-semitism. Hebrew is a religion, not a race.
