I have noticed my male neighbour taking pictures from his house of my 12-year old sister playing on a trampoline in our back yard. Is this illegal in British law, considering that my sister is on her own private property when this is taking place? He has not yet specifically complained about her playing on the trampoline, which I would expect if this was the reason for the photo-taking.

I'm not certain about British law but in America it's called an invasion of privacy and stalking and is indeed illegal. If he took pictures as a complaint about the "public nuisance" of the trampoline, the police would refuse to look at them. (We had that happen with a neighbor photographing kids playing baseball in a church yard.) I would see if you can find some legal person to answer your questions.

Why do you not ask him civilly if he has a problem with the trampoline. If you do not go in there looking for an argument you will be able to judge from his reaction if it is anything more sinister, if it is just about the trampoline and his belief of an invasion of privacy in his home you can sort out the problem and make him look like a **** because you are being reasonable

I don't know if it's illegal, but he's probably a pervert. Call the cops maybe they can do something or at least scare him. The other option of course is to take care of him yourself.

You hope that's the reason. How do you know he's not putting it on some website for pedophiles, or worse? Call the cops. Regardless of where she is or where he is when the pictures are being taken, it's illegal and just creepy.

That's kind of freaky, I would definitely tell your parents and let them handle it.

I don't know anything about British law, though.
