7x-8a=3x+24a
7x - 8a - 3x = 3x + 24a - 3x
4x - 8a = 24a
4x - 8a + 8a = 24a + 8a
4x = 32a
x = 32a / 4
x = 8a

7x -8a = 3x + 24a
7x - 3x = 24a + 8a
4x = 32a
x = 32a/4
x = 8a.

Without another linear equation to make a pair of simultaneous equations 'x' & 'a' cannot be resolved.
The ratio between 'x' and 'a' is all that can be calculated.
However, we can subsitute '8a' in for 'x'.
So!!!!
7(8a) - 8a = 3(8a) + 24a
56a - 8a = 24a + 24a
48 a = 48a
a = 1

If 'a' = 1 then substitute in for 'a'
7x - 8(1) = 3x + 24(1)

7x - 8 = 3x + 24
7x - 3x = 24 +8
4x = 32
x = 8

So the values are : - a= 1 and x = 8.

7x - 8a = 3x + 24 a
7x -3x = 24 a + 8a
4 x = 32 a
4x/4 =32a/4
x=8a
