I am 20 years old and have been on birth control for years (about 8 years). This past month my insurance was dropped and I didn't want to pay $40 for the meds - so I didn't. Well... here it is. I'm about two days late and I've ALWAYS been very regular. I am sexually active and haven't been using condoms ALL the time. The times we don't, however; he always pulls out. I know this isn't the most reliable form of birth control, but what are the chances? Should I be freaking out already?
I've always heard that when you are, you will know. Well, it wasn't an issue for me but my usually calm and collected boyfriend has been going crazy. He says he can just feel it. That for the past 5-6 days he feels something different. Is it just his nerves or have you ever heard of that? I told him that Friday I would take a test but to calm down and nothing is calming his nerves. Should his nervousness cause me to be nervous? Thanks y'all!

I know I should take a test - I've just decided I'm not going to do that until Friday. And 98% of the time we do use condoms. I'm mainly asking about if anyone has ever heard of the guy getting worried and feeling like that and it being correct.

any symptoms I have: tender breasts, eating EVERYTHING, increased sense of smell (I couldn't eat sushi last night, my favorite food, because of the fishy smell), increased sex drive, constant tiredness, increased "bitchy-ness"

You have always been VERY regular because you were on the pill. And from the way it sounds you were likely on the pill for the majority of your "reproductive" life if you will.
I have to assume that after going off the pill that you're body might be a bit outta whack, and thus your period is late.
I would wait till you are about a week late then take a Home Pregnancy Test.
If it comes up negative and you still haven't gotten your period, I would suggest going to a planned parenthood, or some other local free clinic *since you mentioned your lack of insurance* let them know your history with the pill and make sure everything is okay.
In the future make sure to use a condom and maybe another form of birth control. There are inserts called Encare. They are a spermicide that you insert 10-15minutes before intercourse. While it takes some of the spontaneity out of the situation it is always nice to have a "second line of defense" so to speak.
Good Luck, and relax, stress will only delay your period even more.

It is possible that you could be pregnant, but I went off the pill last August after about 5 years and didnt have a period at all until November (and I didnt get pregnant until January, but we were trying). I would suggest taking a test today if you are worried, a lot of the home pregnancy tests can already work. And for future reference, pulling out is not a form of birth control! If you arent ready to have a baby, find another form of birth control for yourself or use a condom everytime. Its much more effective than pulling out.

Being on birth control for eight years and then stopping can really affect your period, and chances are it's just your body trying to re-regulate itself. At 20 years old, a woman trying to concieve has about a 20% chance of becoming pregnant. It's not impossible for you to be, but I wouldn't freak out too much about it. Best advice I can give you is to take a test, and just see. If you aren't pregnant, let this be a lesson. If you are, congratulations. There's nothing like being pregnant. It's amazing.

It's certainly possible you're pregnant if you've been having unprotected sex. The pull-out method is NOT reliable birth control (do you have any idea how many babies are conceived that way?!). If you and your boyfriend aren't ready to be parents, you MUST use birth control every time you have sex. Take a HPT to determine if you're pregnant.

Your hormones will fluctuate now that you're no on the pill, screwing up your periods.
You can certainly get pregnant in the way youre describing.
Babies are NOT hard to avoid, use protection. If you're late you can take a test, I advise you do so, and pick up some condoms while you're out.

It's normal for your guy to be nervous, but don't let him pass his anxiety to you! He may be right, but it's still 50/50. Unless he is psychic? If not, ignore his prediction and tell the poor guy to go play golf or fishing or something before he has a panic attack! Good luck.
