Pendant Switch:

I thought it was a ceiling fan switch with a chain also until I looked them up.

Good question, I learned something new.

Edit- A switch that makes or breaks when tilted is called a 'mercury switch'. There are also non mercury switches called 'tilt' and 'vibration' sensors.

like on a sump pump or a tilt switch on a pin ball mach,

It is the string that hangs from a ceiling light or fan.......to turn it on and off with.....
