That's tough to call, it all depends on what you're into. Back in 1996, I was at the Olympics in Atlanta for all three weeks. They have what they call an Olympic Circle, where all of the sponsors set up really cool exhibits and there's all kinds of food and entertainment. The whole event is nothing but a big party with the whole world there, you can really feel the spirit. Gymnastics is really exciting and the most difficult event to get into. There's just too many events to choose from. Basketball draws the most spectators. As far as glamorous goes, you won't ever run out of things to do. I'm looking forward to Beijing, but may not go there this time around. If you have connections, then you'll find glamor at parties sponsored by different countries. Like I went to one for Israel, and all of the top political figures and their Olympic team. With the exception of the athletes, like I said nothing but a big international party.

Track and Field in the summer and figure skating in the winter (though I prefer to watch ice hockey)
the men's 100m is over in less than 10 seconds and it doesn't neccessarily mean you are the fastest man in the world because Michael Johnson ran the 200 and 400 and was the fastest with records that no human will break for a long time.

Womens Figure Skating and Downhill skiing for the Winter
Gymnastics and the 100 meter dash for the Summer
Those seem to be the sports that people perk up for. Not the ones I would choose, necessarily, but what do you do???

In the winter games I would have to say Ladies Figure Skating.

For the general public I think it is gymnastics. For me it is the main focus of the Olympics Track and Field.
