Why is russ adams in the majors again..?? Can you believe John MacDonald..is this guy the best defensive shortstop in the majors?

I think the Jays are hesitant to give up completely on Adams because of the fact that he was a first round choice. Since 2004, though, it seems like he's regressing and there's no way he'll ever be the everyday shortstop.

McDonald is playing amazing defense, but his bat is terrible. His OBP is .281, which is about 50 points below an average player. Even great defense isn't enough to make up such a gap, but they just don't have many options at that position right now.

I remember there was talk of the Jays going after Lugo last offseason, but that didn't pan out. We definitely need to find a better solution than Johnny Mac at short, even though I like him. We need someone a little younger who provides some offense, but I'm not sure how easy it will be to land a player like that.

What took him so long to get a starting job. He has been with a few clubs and always that utility infielder label on him.
