Remember being 12 and you couldn't wait to be 13? Being 16 and wanting to be 18? Being 18 and wanting to be 21? Then all of a sudden 50 was looming ahead?

And now I sometimes wonder where the days and months go.

To explain why time seems to "fly" faster as you get older ... Think of learning to play the piano, you start out with learning the name of the notes and where they are located on the piano keyboard. Later you learn to combine the right hand action with the left hand action. All these steps must be learned one by one and they seem to take a long time at practice. Next, when you have mastered the basics you are ready to play more complicated pieces, and finally you can take a test and graduate from the beginner's class to more advanced. The early steps seem to last forever but in time when you are an accomplished pianist you can breeze through an easy piano work in no time at all. What it comes down to is "familiarity". When you travel a new road you are careful to notice all the signs and turns and it is time consuming, but when you travel the same road for a hundred times you hardly notice signs any more and the time just flies by! Just my opinion.

Time has always "been flying by" for me and I think it's because I always lived my life in forward motion and at an extremely fast rate due to things I was involved in. Time still flies for me, even though I'm now disabled. I really think that it all depends on how busy your life is.

Also, my son, who is now 31 has been complaining that the days are too short and time has been flying, since he was 18 years old, and he still complains about it. Just not enough time to do the things that need to be done.

It's said we're alloted just so much time in this life, and I like to use it to help those that I can. Although I am 60, I still have the energy of a 25 year old and looking forward to being 90.

Have a great day and don't forget to give yourself some time to stop and smell those beautiful roses.

"Let's do the time warp again!" I have given up on days/weeks/months/ years...they are all becoming one big hodgepodge of time, not very different on day to the next, although what I do from day to day varies greatly...I was 60 yesterday, and next week I will be 66 ! I have to check the newpaper daily to keep the date in my head...I think this is Aug something, 2001..but who cares ! I sleep, I eat, I work, I play with my dogs, I swim, I play bridge, I work out, I....hell, it doesn't matter much what I do, after all these years, no matter what you do, there is very little actually new in life...no problem, but time is. And yes, tomorrow, I will wake up dead, as the saying goes...but until then, I just keep plugging along.

I remember when i was younger the summer seemed to last forever. Christmas was always so far away and god know my birthday could not come fast enough. Now the weeks so quickly , meaning that the month goes just as fast and a year is nothing at all.
What would I give to go by slow again...especially with my son growing so fast.

I was 47 the other day. I know what you mean. I must admit though, getting older in itself is not a headache for me. Rather, it is knowing that all the things I had hoped to do by the age of 47...well, let's say I have done half of them.

Most of all, I see the passing of the years in the faces of my kids more than in my own. My daughter is 22 now, and yet, it was only about three weeks ago (or so it seems to me) that I held her as a new born baby.

I'm 58 and feel like 21 was yesterday. I work in an aged care facility, and I've asked this question of some of the "really old oldies"...they say that time flies faster and faster as you get older. So.....I guess we all have to pack in as much as we can, into these latter years, before the time comes to check out. I try to think of life in "good summers" now...how many "good summers " do I have to enjoy - really enjoy ? It puts life into perspective, and makes me plan on exciting and memorable things to experience and learn.

Time does seem to go faster, the older you get. Someone once explained it to me this way: When you're 5 and your parents tell you it's six months till Santa comes, that's 1/10th of your lifetime!
Yesterday I heard someone mention that Thanksgiving is 90 days away. Didn't we just have that holiday a few weeks ago? Seems like it.

Yes, I totally agree with it. I could feel the change when I turned 30. In my 20's....I was never ever *aware* of time passing by, but now, I am too aware and I want to use my time more wisely. I am more disciplined and conscious. But yes, days just melt into each other and I am not liking it. My workday goes too slow though :P. I need to change jobs to a more interesting one.

Yes, I do. Even after retiring I still don't have all the time I need to do every thing I want to do.
I wish I was 16 again instead of being 70.

Yeah, I know, it is crazy. It's almost Christmas time again. This year has flown by and it does seem to just keep going faster every month. But yeah my child hood years just dragged by and it seems like I was 10-11 for a real long time. Now I can barely keep up.
