If number of units made in ONE Hour = U
and Number of hours of production = H

Total Units produced = H x U

But 31% of production are wasted

So [31/100] x H x U = Bad {wasted} Produce

Replace letters with figures

{31/100} x 5520 x 5845 = 10001964

if saleable units are 69% (100-31) of the operation then total units per hour are 5520 x (100/69)
rejected units are 31% of this 31/100 x 5520 x 100/69

total rejected units = 5845 x 31/100 x 5520 x 100/69

since 31% of the units produced are rejected 69% of the units produced are not rejected or are saleable units. Now total number of saleable units produced in an year is 5845*5520. Let us suppose the total number of units produced in an year are x (basically including rejected units).
So 69% of x is 5845*5520,use this to find x. 31% of x will be your ans.

Units produced per hour = 5520
Total Units produced in the year = 5845x5520 = 32264400
No. of units rejected = 31% of 32264400 = 10001964

number of saleable items produced/hour x total number of hours/year = 5520 x 5845 = 32264400 = 69% of total units produced
so, to get the number of rejected units, you have to first work out the total number of units
32264400/69 = 467600 x 100 = 46760000
now subtract the first total (32264400) from the second (46760000) to get: 14495600 = the total number of rejected items
hope that helped

Number od units produced = 5845 times 5520
5845(5520)=32264400
31 % of this is 32264400(31/100)=10001964

To find the tolat number produced an hour you divide 5520 by .69 which is 100-31%. Then you multiply that answer by .31*5845.

The formula is NR= (NS x HY) *PR
NR= No. of product rejected
NS= No. os seleable items produced by hour
HY= No of hours of operation per year
PR= Purcentage of unit rejected (e.g 0.31 for 31%)

in your case the result is 5520x 5845 x 0.31 = 10 001 964

I would multiply the per hour saleable units to the total hours worked.(5845 x5520)That makes 32.264.400 saleable units.31 % of the above number is10.001.964......I think but dont do your exams based on my calculations.
