As the President said, the term 'killing fields" as well as the reality of the killing fields were the direct result of our withdrawal from Vietnam. He did not say they were in Vietnam and you missed the point entirely.

This is not about silly nit-picking politics. If some people are for immediate withdrawal from Iraq they need to understand what that would mean.

If he had served overseas active duty even he might have been aware of the location of the "killing fields". Or he could have merely watched the movie however my bet is he was busy watching "Fast Times at Ridgemont High", or the Cheech and Chong series of movies. The sad truth about your question is that all too many Americans are not aware of the error in his statement and do not get the significance, and that is why there are so many ignorant, uninformed rants in these forums and bad decisions during elections.

Maybe Cheney informed him after his 5 tours in Vietnam. Were those tours, or deferments?

Genius...those killing fields also occured in Nam after we left to the tune of millions of So. Vietnamese who supported the US. Most died in reindoctrination camps.

165,000 vietnamese died in re-education camps after vietnam was unified.
The Cambodian holocaust would never have happened while there was a US military presence in Viet Nam.
