When does Microgestin 1/20 become effective ?

Question

I started taking Microgestin at a random time instead of first day or sunday start and am just starting my third week of it. I am going to see my boyfriend who is in the army at the end of my 4th week (no pills) and was wondering if it is safe to rely on the birth control ?

In other words, how long until Microgestin 1/20 is effective, also taking into consideration that I started on random day ?

The pill should already be effective for you but I would recommend checking with your doctor (you can ask this by phone as well) to see what they say as well.
