Rule of thumb is 15% to 20%. On a $60.00 bill a good tip would be anywhere between $9 to $12. If the server went above and beyond to accomodate any dietary needs/substitutions etc. for your meal, you might wish to increase the tip.

20% of 60.00 Seeing how a tip is between 15 and 20% of the total bill. No more, no less needed. Unless the service was aweful or bar-none.

Generally, in California, the bare minimum tip is 10%, but really, you should tip 15%. Since the avg. CA tax is 8%, it's generally easier to double the tax. If you guys are eating $60 worth, $6-12 is how much you should pay. (10-20%)

It depends on the situation you are in. First you need to decide the quality and the atmosphere of restaurant. second you want to decide how good the service was. last on how good the food was. People usually tell me to leave a tip 15% or better. I usually leave about just a 15% tip. For your case i would have left $10. Buy hey if somethings wrong, just leave a buck.

The wage for servers is, at a minimum, $2.65 an hour...their tips ARE their wages! Those poor souls have to suck up and kiss a lot of a*s just to make ends meet, and if a customer is in a bad mood from the get-go, their tip is basically f*cked. If a server goes above and beyond their call of duty to make your meal experience better for you, 33% is a good gratuity. If the service is average, 20% is good. If a customer stiffs them, you better believe they will remember it and give you mediocre service for the time you are a guest. But better than that, they remember good tippers too!

Tell your husband that it is customary to tip 15/20% and that if he doesn't tip - that is a shame, waiters and watresses only make about 3.00 and hour and Tips are how they survive....
Tell him to stop being so cheap.... a tip on a $60 bill should at least $9.00 if the service was ok and if the service was great it should be almost doubled.

For a $ 60.-- dinner you should tip about $ 10.-- 15% of the total bill is pretty well the norm. Waitress completely depend on tips, they receive very little money from the restaurant.

Personally I always tip 20%, more if the service was above and beyond the call of duty. If I like a place I go there often...if you don't tip the servers remember you and you don't want people serving you food to be ticked off at you if you know what I mean!

This depends on the service obviously. And who you ask too.
15% is basic, nothing wrong, nothing great
10% is basic for buffets, the servers who pick up your plates and utensilse yes you're suposed to tip them too.
for a 60 meal it should be 9 dollars. that's 15% if your server was friendly and you ate at a busy time, like the dinner rush and you had to wait for your table, and the server still got your food out to you in a prompt manner and mannaged to visit your table after serving your food to ask how it was the then give a little more.
Another side tip (no pun) if you get labled as a bad tipper you get served as a bad tipper. If you ever siff a server and give no tip, on purpose, DON'T EVER GO BACK TO THAT RESTURANT! We stick together, watch Waiting, and you'd understand.

If you receive good service the tip is normally 15%
If you receive extra good service the tip is normally 20%
Tip for $60.00 with good service = $9.00
Tip for $60.00 with extra good service = $12.00
