I do not want to hear that they are harmless and only eating bugs. I'm terrified, the kids are terrified, and I want them out of my house without having to take drastic measures...

If your having a big problem with them then you probably also have a bug problem too. Remove their food supply & they'll leave.
Perhaps you should also address why you and your kids are scared of a harmless lizard as well. My kids catch & play with them.

you can smoke them out, if they're in the chimney, or a place like that. call animal control, ew... good luck
