Yeah....those were the days. Throw in a few chairs to expand your space and your little stereo so you had music and get some snacks and you were in for a night like no other.
Why isn't life that simple anymore? Why can't we still live in those little forts?

I first read this question and thought , " Man ! I never did that ! "
I' m wrong .
As a public school kid , 4 of us guys ,in the same neighbourhood ( we were forever great friends ! ) built a wood & card-board fort . It was erected in a near-by field . We did it with "no" adult supervision . We even added a stair-way that led to our look-out tower !
We did sleep in it overnight .... once .
Funny thing is , the night we slept there was right after attending an after-noon movie .... a HORROR MOVIE ! Wish I could remember the title ? ( Something about an Evil? .... Circus )
So , yes , we were pretty spooked that night ! But it created another childhood memory .
About 2 days later , some other nosy neighbours had the fort taken down .... they thought we might use it to get young girls pregnant ! ? ! * ) ? ! .... How retarded !

Yeah, all the time. Refrigerator boxes are the best. You can play army tanks in the medium sized ones.

no .. but when i was a kid my dad would bring home these huge boxes ( the size of a fridge ) and we'd make trains and buildings out of them - eventually they'd need repaired with duct tape and we'd play in them even more!
t'was great fun!
