Actually, I think that may have happened this year. Early this season Cleveland had some bad weather. I think they had an entire 4 game series against the Mariners snowed out.
I don't think they could reschedule all 4 games in Cleveland so they played a game when the Indians went to Seattle, with the Indians as the "home" team. That is, Cleveland batted in the bottom of each inning.

Long ago, in the before-time, the home team had the option of batting first. They were still the home team, but they could take first ups. So, sometimes, it happened. This condition no longer obtains -- the home team bats last.

you 2 on top are wrong. we (cleveland) were the home team and the games were played in milwaukee. they offered discount tickets and all the games were almost sold out.
as for the original question, i dont think it has happened before.
