Just replaced a swamp cooler with air conditioning, have big exterior hole can that be drywalled?

Swamp cooler has been on the outside of my house for over ten years, the space goes in about a foot, have interior trim, no insulation, was window mount looking for ideas how to seal off.

use 2x4 to fill it in so that when you put drywall in the interior you will have something to screw to., the exterior you will have to match up with your existing.

Sure why not, just frame it in with 2x4's and cover it with drywall.
