Does an SLI mobo require enhance performance (EP) memory?

I have a 2GB Kingston ValueRAM kit (matched pairs of 1GB sticks) and want to make sure it will work in an SLI mobo.

The board is an ASUS M2N-E SLI Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 500 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard.

I have an AMD 64 X2 3800 socket AM2 processor ready to use in the mobo that I purchase.

NOPE. You just need enhanced or high performance memory if you will overclock or tweak (tighten) memory settings. Some of these performance RAMs need higher voltage. Sometimes they do not work at default settings set by BIOS. You have to manually set the higher voltage option in BIOS (assuming board supports higher setting manual adjustment).

As long as your existing memory sticks are DDR2 modules they should work fine, however, if they were from an earlier motherboard and are only DDR memory they won't fit. DDR memory modules are 184pin connections and DDR2 is 240pin. With the advent of the AM2 chipset AMD configured motherboards use DDR2, older AMD processors were 940, 939, or 754 pin processors and they used DDR memory sticks. Just make sure you have 240pin DDR2 memory modules and not the 184pin DDR series and you should be fine.
