National Flower:
Japan has no official national flower. Most people, however, consider the cherry blossom the unofficial national flower of Japan. Furthermore, the chrysanthemum is the symbol for Japan's emperor.

Japan has two flowers associated with it. The first is the cherry blossom. The second is the chrysanthemum
Cherry blossom watching is literally a favorite pastime in Japan. During the time of 'hanami' or cherry blossom watching, the Japanese enjoy picnicking and simply taking in the beautiful world of cherry blossoms in full bloom.
The Japanese also have a royal family whose flower is the chrysanthemum. Japan just recently rejoiced because the royal couple gave birth to a son. This was a big deal due to the fact that this was the first male heir in forty years to be born to a line that is 1,500 year old.
Technically, the chrysanthemum is the national flower of Japan but the cherry blossom is Japan's national treasure.

Japan actually has three national flowers, first of all the Chrysanthemum which is a symbol of the emperor and is on his crest, his throne is also named after the Chrysanthemum.
Secondly the plum blossom represents the first sign of spring.
Thirdly the Cherry blossom which is the traditional national flower.
Hope this helps.
