They will not eat Goldfish and they will certainly not eat flake food! Go to the store and buy some live or frozen blood worms and brine shrimp. Also, get some of the little snails that you find on live plants. The Puffers will gobble them up like you wouldn't believe. Shrimp and frozen prawn are also very good for the Puffers. Puffers require heavily planted tanks, so if you did this with live plants, they will hunt down any little snails they may see. Also, by the time they get about 2-3 inches long, they will need brackish water to be healthy. If you cannot provide them with brackish water, give them away ASAP.

All the above ansers are correct, they don't eat flake food or pellets, or goldfish. They need frozen food like bloodworms, krill, cut up pieces of shrimp, you could even use live brine shrimp. Walmart shouldn't sell fish-period. Also, green spotted puffs will eventually need to be acclimated to brackish water to full marine conditons. Here's a link with great info on puffers:

If you click on the brackish puffer picture, it'll give you a profile of GSP's.

A lot of our puffers died because they wouldn't eat! WalMart isn't good about selling healthy fish to begin with, but you might go back and ask them what they were fed in the store. We were told to try freeze dried brine shrimp and frozen blood worms. They also need snails to munch on, as the shells help wear their beak down. Only a couple started eating, the rest died. =(

Any variety of puffer will consume snails. make beneficial they're smaller that they are eye so they are able to overwhelm the shells. If no longer, then they are going to in basic terms suck out the main significant physique area, defeating the point of donning down their enamel. No you won't be able to apply popular backyard snails by way of fact they are going to regularly incorporate chemical ingredients which you do no longer desire on your tank. ~ZTM
