Perpetual war. No end.

They treat it like its a military war against a country. but its a war without end...which puts us on a path for more and more patriot act like laws and more and more suppression of freedoms.

A democracy or Republic if you wish, which is a form of democracy cannot survive perpetual war.

The war on terror will be a long time issue. I don't think I'll see the conclusion in my lifetime. Too bad it wasn't started earlier before it got so out of hand.
One person said when they stop blowing people and things up. I'm sure about that because they've been doing that for centuries on way or the other.
Of course the terrorist solution is when we are all dead or converted (although I think after the non-believers are dead they will turn on the converted.)

The war on terror will never end. There will always be terrorists.

What you are referring to should more correctly be called the war on Islamic terror. It also will never end; the perpetrators can only be kept down by denying them the logistical means to launch devastating attacks on our interests both foreign and domestic.

We have been at war with Islamic terror for centuries. We are only now getting serious about it again.

Iraq and Afghanistan are battles not wars.

The War on Terror will be a success after we get permission to invade the Afghanistan/Pakistan border and we can take out bin Laden, when Iran and Syria stop supporting radicals, and when the radical Muslim ideology is slowed down as with any ideology like Communism or fascism, Islamic radicalism will never completely leave the world, but it can be slowed down.

Show some intelligence. The war on terror will never be achieved. It will just be controlled and/or limited.

I'm sure the final objective in the War on Terror mirrors the final objectives of the Wars on Poverty and Drugs.

All of them are ridiculous.

Pretty much the same as "Give Peace a Chance" or "Make Love Not War".

None of 'em are actually achievable, but they sound nice.

because that's not easily answered. terrorist organizations stretch from one end of the globe to the other. the task will not be easy nor short. this will be an ongoing fight. i guess the ultimate answer is that when states stop supporting, harboring, supplying terrorist groups and actively help in combating the fundamentalists... that's when we will have achieved our objective. making sure that nothing like 9/11 happens to us or any other nation on earth, again.

Its fought to hurt organizations like Al-Qeada, Hamas and Hezbollah. Its mainly focused on radical Islam, which is obviously a problem in this day and time. How do we know when its achieved, well the top guy did a good job answering that.
