Ouch... Not often - you need to buy those mean little hangnail scissors. Remember to push your cuticles back often.

I have one finger in particular which is prone to this. I often forget the consequences of biting it off, that hot painful not like anything else feeling. blooming nuisance.

I think it is when the cuticle of your nail get dry and then breaks and it gets rubbed on something that irritates it. I hate those buggers! I get them about once a month.
