I had 34 feeder fish in the tank with my 4in. RES and 1in. Yellow Belly and my 2 1in. Map turtles. They ate 32 of the feeder fish in less then 15 minutes. I was feeding them pellets but they would eat like 20 of them so i got feeder fish. I had the feeder fish in the tank for at least 2 weeks. last night one of my maps caught one and my RES was getting up set because he couldnt catch them. after 10 minutes he learned to wait till they go up and sneak up under them. My RES went a killing spree. Does this mean i need bigger feeder fish? He eats them fast. We got him 1in. feeder fish because we thought they would fill him up. but i guess not.

well turtles don't kno when they are full. they will eat until they are dead. they ate all the fish because thats what they should eat in the wild. however, don't feed them too many fish because it can be too oily for turtles or too fatty for them. pellets is the healthy way to go. but doesn't mean not to feed them feeder fish. you can try to feed them feeder fish once in awhile. also keep in mind that turtles eat other food like fruits and veges

Don't feed too much feeder fish. It should be a snack and Rosy Reds are better then plain Gold Fish. Feed More pellets. They have more nutrition especially designed for turtles. You don't want to gorge them.

i dont know too much about turtles but you should keep them on pellets and feed fish as a treat every once in a while... feeder fish like gold fish have almost no nutritional value and produce a mass amount of wast and can dirty your tank really quickly... someone might correct me... but this is what i know..

You can get larger feeder fish, or more, but I would suggest to also keep feeding them pellet food.

1. You might have been underfeeding them, or offering the wrong foods.

2. It is REALLY EASY to overfeed these little pigs- they are ALWAYS hungry!

3. A good diet is a mix of pellets and various live or frozen/thawed 'fish foods' like worms, insects, fish, krill, organ meat, shrimp, snails, etc.

4. A good website that talks about all of these turtles is http://www.austinsturtlepage.com
