Or am I alone on this? Just tell me the story, don't try to "tug at my heartstrings", or create a sense of panic and desperation.
Now that's what's really sad and pathetic

Yes. I always think how disappointing it is that the majority of journalists have become very opinionated and bias in their reporting instead of just poviding the details to the public without including editorial comments along with their stories. Not to mention the fact that most mainstream journalists have become more like the sleazy tabloid reporters in providing details, than a positive representation of their profession. For instance, now that Leona Helmsley is dead, NBC is going to play a recording of her scolding/degrading some of her former employees.

To me this is unacceptable, since she has passed on to the next life. Even though I was not a fan of hers and did not admire her behavior, I think that footage of that nature should be off-limits out of respect for the dead and not made availabe to the public, as used to be the case in the old days when reporters were more considerate.

Today however, journalists seem to be willing to cross any line in order to provide a story that will increase viewer ratings for their fans.

This is a very sad moral testimony about the profession of journalism.

I still am exposed to legitimate journalism. It comes by way of English language shortwave broadcast. It's a method of getting news and information that I've been using since 1949. In this current age I can now get streaming broadcasts from many of those outlets.

I don't believe there's ever been legitimate journalism. It's all based on someone elses opinion and all reported to get ratings and attention.

Yes and no.
Yes because they used to report actual news, not celebrity gossip.
No because there was only one viewpoint represented by the news. Fox News was created for the rest of us.
