I agree with you like I believe you should be proud of who you are but then you get those gays who wanna wear handbags and make a HUGE scene and that make the stereotype of gays true that's not true for all of us which basically just makes things worse in the long run yeah we have come a long way but we still need to keep fighting!! :p

First this is a very blanketed statement, I have a ton of Gay and Lesbian friends who hardly talk about their sexuality. Not because they are ashamed but just because they don't feel the need to unless we are on the subject. People are who they are and if they want to shout from the rooftops that they are gay than that is their right as a citizen and good for them. It is not up to you to decide how people should act or what they should say.

It's a personal decision. The people that, as you say, are "flaunting" their sexuality are just proud of who they are, and are not ashamed to show it. I think the more "out" gay people are, the more normal it will seem to be gay, and hopefully because of people like this we will one day live in a society free of homophobia and gay-bashing.
PS Kudos to YEAH thats RIGHT and stonerockit--you guys are my new LGBT crushes!

I only do it in response to an insult or use of the word 'homosexual'.
We have to have some kind of public positioning of gays so that we can achieve the right to marriage and military service.
I'm not sure how you meant the question, personal or mass media "in others face".

As a lesbian I could be prejudiced, but in my experience very few gays adopt the 'in your face' tack concerning their sexuality. In fact, I'd say that the percentage that do is somewhat lower than the 'straight' people who go on about their (usually god approved) sexuality to me.

I do not flaunt myself but I will tell you something ...
I get so damn angry sometimes watching TV. Seems to me the straights are always "flaunting their straightness" and shoving it down my throat through TV programs, movies and such ... plus other forms of media. I go through periods when I cannot turn on my TV for a day or two because I am sick of the "boy meets girl" themes and "oh, isn't that sweet?" They take this for granted. Every day is "Straight Pride Day."
Go ahead, let our trolls sack me with the thumbs down - I do not care. It is the truth.
I am gay. I am normal!
:)

I guess you have a taste of what it feels like to have opinions forced on you. Gay people get to enjoy the same much more than you do.

While I don't completely agree with your statement, I get your point. Alot of people do try to flaunt it when its no one's business. I don't think I should parade myself in front of my best friend...she also wouldn't parade her sexuality in front of me (straight). I think everyone should just keep their personal lives exactly that personal. If I screw girls in my bedroom, my coworkers don't have to know about it. That sort of thing. Anyway I get what you are saying. I wish I could be more open but I don't agree with PDAs and such.

We move in different crowds. Most of the gay people I know just live their lives and *don't* shove it in others' faces.
