I'm guessing you're in Australia and you would have heard of H & R Block. They provide part-time tax return course every year which starts in February. The course fee is just a bit over $400 (can't remember exactly or don't know if they've increased their fees) and the course goes for about 16-18 weeks, 1 class every week.
They'll teach all the basic you need to know to prepare an individual tax return and upon completion, if your overall scores are 80% or more, you'd also be offered part-time position with them during the tax season (July to October).
And every year, you'll need to do an advanced course to 'touch up' and 'refresh' your knowledge if you get invited back to work for them the second year, third year and so on. But these advanced courses are only $70 as you're already considered their staff after working for them the first year.
The first year's fee may seem a lot but you'll learn what you need to know about preparing individual tax returns plus there's a possibily you'll gain some part-time work, and most importantly, these fees are all tax deductable on your own tax return.
This is my second year with them, although they don't give me many shifts as my available hours are limited due to full-time work commitments, but it's a great way to learn something new and earn that little bit of extra cash.
