can rental agent keep property for non payment of rent.?

i just got new job and i cant afford too pay so i didnt pay and i told him to keep deposit 350 and i will pay late fees

if you don't pay your rent, the owner or his agent can evict you. the rental agent can keep your things until you pay, but you should get a notice of pending action. if you talk it over, maybe they'll give you a break.

in the USA no it is illegal to hold a tenant's property
