I'm so scared that my water isn't clean enough that my RES turtle is getting sick. There's some white fuzz all over his skin! It seems very excessive. My other turtle who's in the same tank isn't affected at all. They're babies by the way and I've had them for 4 months now. On a closer look it could look like he's shedding some skin.. but I'm not entirely sure... and it's really getting me concerned!

This is something that you may want to speak with your local vet who specializes in reptiles about. It could be an infection, or if you are using tap water, could be buildup of chlorine from the water (such as you would get on your shower doors from the hard water). Most pet stores sell water conditioners. However, I would still have him examined.

This could be a bad shedding, a fungal infection, or a few other things. In most cases, it signals that there is a glitch in the basic cares or diet- tank size, water quality, temps, etc.

Try the care sheets, articles, and medical information at http://www.austinsturtlepage.com to get started to see if there is anything you need to adjust in the tank.

Very easy answer, it is defiantly skin shedding but you need to turn down the basking lamp to around 80 degrees for ultimate comfort. Hope you get everything sorted for peice of mind
