You could try to find out exactly what subjects are covered by the exam and study them if you can. If you can talk to somebody who already took that exam or even better get a copy of an old exam to look at, you can get an idea of what kind of things to study. I did that with the GRE, just doing practice tests and figuring out how to do the questions that stumped me. It made a HUGE difference in my score.
