My grandson is 4 months old. He was born April 15. Right now he goes to sleep at night around 10:00 PM. He'll sleep between 4-7 hours without waking. Generally if he wakes in the night my daughter nurses him and he goes back to sleep. But, of course, this doesn't always happen, sometimes he stays awake and is fussy for a while. He often will wake in the morning, nurse and go back to sleep or stay awake for an hour or so and then take a power nap of 1/2 hour. Mornings he nurses closer to every 2 hours with about a 1/2 hour nap sometime in between. In the afternoon he is awake longer and can go closer to 3 hours between nursings and may sleep an hour at a time. Each day is still pretty different for him, but I would say generally speaking he goes to bed at 10 PM and has 3-5 naps of varying lengths during the day. He is not known for taking long naps and anything more than an hour is pretty rare for him. I have 4 kids of my own (ages 28, 25, 22, and 10) plus I have been a licensed child care provider in my home for 20 years. It sounds like a cliche, but it is true that all babies are different. In addition, there is so much growth in that first year, that it is normal for infant schedules to change frequently.

4 month old should be sleeping anywhere between 8 and 10 hrs a night. I put mine down around 8 and she takes a nap around 2 in the afternoon. Sometimes she still wakes up in the middle of the night, I just give her a couple of oz's of milk and she goes right back to sleep.

Noah has been on a schedule since he's been a little guy (2-3wks). By the time he was 4mths, he was napping twice a day (10:30a and 3:30p) and going to bed at 7:30. I have followed the advice of a book called Babywise by Gary Ezzo. You may want to read it, makes taking care of a baby so much easier! Noah has been sleeping through the night since 3-4mths...just lately he's been having some difficulty due to teething.

My 4 month old goes to bed at 7pm. He then wakes up briefly for a feed at 11pm and sleeps through until 5.30 or 6am. He has another feed and goes back to sleep until about 8.30am.
He has a few naps during the day - one for about 45 minutes 2 hours after he wakes up. He has a lunchtime nap for about and hour, and usually a short nap at around 4pm for 30 minutes.

At 4 months old my son's doctor told us to stop feeding him at night and let him cry out. So he cried for a bit for three nights and then started to sleep from 7:30 PM till 9 AM. He is now 7 months and still sleeps like that. He also takes 2 naps, usually from 11 - noon and 2 - 4 pm.

All babies are different I have five children and every one of them were different...I had one that slept all night at four months then I had one that got up every hour. one that got up every three hours and one that didn't sleep at all! and then I had one that would sleep all night about 3 days a week then be up off and on ..so there is never a set time babies seem to develop their own sleep patterns at times but I will tell you that setting a consistent routine at bedtime will help. bath time story time cuddle time bottle time just make sure its quiet so that it sooths baby and makes sleep inviting. I certainly like quiet when I sleep .*smiles* good luck!

She naps 20min at 8 am the usually an hour of 2 at different times in the afternnon depending on what we are doing... the car always sends her off!
