Nuking the ME (or anywhere)would cause huge numbers of deaths of innocent civilians in the ME, but also cause radiation fallout to drift on the winds around the world, settle in the USA (and elsewhere) and cause 10's or 100's of thousands or millions of cases of leukemias and other cancers in us and others around the world. And that doesn't even address the issue of irradiating the oil, making it unusable for 100,000 years. Answer the question, now, don't start with the mindless name calling or invitations to live in China or suggest that ordinary ME people are not innocent bystanders caught in the middle of h**l.

JeremyR: whether Iran is building nukes or power plants cause they know the oil running out is speculation....don't get me wrong....the Iran gov't are not the good guys.

James, stopping anybody from getting nukes is good, but your suggestion would be shooting ourselves in the foot....can you imagine what would happen to the US economy w/o Iranian oil for a month or even two weeks?

Another less destructive alternative that has been proposed by some of our top military people is to blockade Iran so that it cannot export oil and earn income.
Without the money to buy neclear technology Iran is unable to obtain it.
Iran does not have the capability to develop its own nuclear technology.
Iran buys that technology mostly from Russian scientists who want to make a little extra money.
Also, Iran is dependent on the money from oil exports for over 80% of its revenue.
Without that revenue Iran would be bankrupt in a matter of weeks.
Iran would no longer be a threat.
