You chose wisely my friend. I really dig GNR as well but they can't touch Maiden. Some words of wisdom, bust out the old LP and unwind to this:

I'm waiting in my cold cell when the bell begins to chime
Reflecting on my past life and it doesn't have much time
'Cause at 5 o'clock they take me to the Gallows Pole
The sands of time for me are running low

When the priest comes to read me the last rites
I take a look through the bars at the last sights
Of a world that has gone very wrong for me

Can it be there's been some sort of an error
Hard to stop the surmounting terror
Is it really the end not some crazy dream

Somebody please tell me that I'm dreaming
It's not easy to stop from screaming
But words escape me when I try to speak
Tears they flow but why am I crying?
After all am I not afraid of dying?
Don't I believe that there never is an end?

As the guards march me out to the courtyard
Someone calls from a cell "God be with you"
If there's a God then why has he let me die?

As I walk all my life drifts before me
And though the end is near I'm not sorry
Catch my soul 'cause it's willing to fly away

Mark my words believe my soul lives on
Don't worry now that I have gone
I've gone beyond to see the truth

When you know that your time is close at hand
Maybe then you'll begin to understand
Life down there is just a strange illusion

Yeah, yeah, yeah,
Hallowed be Thy name
Yeah, yeah, yeah,
Hallowed be Thy name

look GNR are good for there time, but Iron Maiden is the best Metal band period.

And hey loser (Octal040) you talking all that crap like you know, im not even going to answer because if you knew anything you were talking about you would know that Maiden just did a world tour, and doing another in 2008, and listen jacka-ss, just because you are into commercial S-hit, don't mean Maiden are not around, because for 30 years Maiden has been around without any radio or TV airplay, so all the bands that you like i would love to see them do that and still be around, you dumbs-hit.

UP THE IRONS.

What do you mean G'N'R isn't around anymore? Velvet Revolver is G'N'R minus Axl. And Axl even does solo shows here in L.A.

Maiden was just a goofy off shoot of Metalica 'cause Dave was such a loser that Metalica dropped him. I haven't heard one thing out of Maiden in 10 years or more, and even if they are still making albums, they must suck enough that few ppl know about it.

Look at it like this, in the last 30 years, only 2 bands (G'N'R then Nirvana) have redefined the genre and made rock change gears. Maiden was just a by-product of post-glam rock.

Everything since has just been minor deviations from Axl and Kurt. Emo to Hard-Core. Most of the Seattle bands are even still around.

EDIT (reply):
Hi there MAIDENsucks:
Don't pretend you know me. I talk all this sh*t 'cause I do know and don't own a single thing that's been in the top 40 for the last decade. Just because I can recognize where and why music has changed doesn't mean I like the bands and ppl that effected the changes. Yes, I've been able to move beyond the 80's unlike you obviously. I'm glad that you're one of the 6 people showing up at shows that no one knows about. That makes you cool I guess.

Guns N' Roses /were/ better, I'm still a bit iffy about the new line-up to be honest.
Iron Maiden are very good, and it's good that they've stayed together after all this time, but when it comes down to my personal taste, i choose Guns N' Roses.

For vocals, I'm gonna say Iron Maiden. For guitar, I'm going to say Guns n Roses. Tough decision though.

The Gunners. While Iron Maiden's decent, I haven't been into them as much as I've been into the Gunners on all elements. Appetite for Destruction is an in-your-face album.

Iv'e seen both in concert back in their prime and Iron Maiden has much more quality songs than GnR has. You can't compare.
