Study styles differ for each person. Studying alone works better for me.

The reason that some people think that group studying is better or worse than other methods is because different people get different amounts of work done. Group studying is good when all the people in the group are concentrated on what you're doing, and aren't easy to get off track. Studying by yourself is better when the people in your group get distracted easily, and stay off topic, wasting your time and energy. So look at the circumstances. If you are paired with some really great partners in chemistry, for example, go for it. Most likely, all of you will learn something. If you're paired with someone who doesn't even care about the work and just wants to copy your paper, or someone that doesn't even care about the lesson, it's better that you study by yourself. So again, look at what the circumstances are, and decide from that.

Strongly disagree. What happens if you are all on the wrong track? Don't put all your eggs in one basket theory. Take good notes and depend on your own instincts and intuition. Group study has been extremely overrated. The teachers like it because they can direct you to a study group instead of having to help you themselves. Then when you fail the exam due to misinformation from the study group, they will all just look at you sheepishly. It's a rude awakening and you have no one to blame but yourself.

Group study can be good for subjects that take a lot of reading, and where discussion of the subject can add to understanding. It was very helpful in Business School.

I've heard of people taking Physics who get together after they did the problems so that they can discuss the answers. But they each tried to do them before the group discussion.

I think it depends on what it is that is being studied. Somethings are easier in my opinion such as math to do alone. but there are many that a group study would be beneficial.

The group study is better because you tend to miss one or two things and amazingly they tend to cover it.
