When you find something that feels "too good to be true", its generally not true.

If you didn't do any work, then its very likely bogus.

You could call the Better Business Bureau that covers the town where that business is located.

If the check is drawn on a bank that has a branch near you, you could go visit the bank and ask them.

Be sure to check out the back of the check and any papers that came with it.

Usually there will be something that basically says by cashing the check you are agreeing to repay the amount with a very high APR.

DROP IT ON THE FLOOR IF IT BOUNCES ITS NO GOOD.

Just take it to the bank of the check writer and ask them to cash it. Not in your account, do not deposit...cash it.
