I used to volunteer with the Winona Humane Society In Winona MN (where the flood was - or close to it) and I am still on their mailing list. They are currently taking animals from flood victims, and I know that they've been offered help by a number of different animal organizations, including people willing to take horses.

But, I bet they could use more help - the Winona Humane Society website is www.winonahumanesociety.org

Their phone number is: (507) 452-3135

They are also looking for volunteers for their next event - Slobberfest - if you are interested.

Good Luck, and I hope you can help

I dont need help but i do live in MN twin cities, Our horses are in Le Seur a little south of Belle Plain. South has just had torrential rains and flooding has been a problem. Our facility is on very high land but the pasture is in a valley and the river that runs through it is very high and raging. Flash floods have been the scarey thing not knowing if your gonna get an instant flood!! and by the looks of it this morning, more rain possible. You are very nice to offer help, dont find that much. Thanks

we to had suffered a drought time with no rain and suddenlygot rain starting this past weekend-Thankfully no flooding like others have been dealing with.
That is a really great thing to offer that-you do not see people helping others anymore in this world.
I hope everyone on here that are in the states that are having floods are careful and that you and your horses stay safe!!!!!!

Personally I believe Lisa and Sasha. And Kristin, have you ever ever obvious a horse placed down "humanely" through a vet? It isn't "go with the flow means peacefully" like a puppy or cat. They don't simply fall asleep. Their muscle tissue agreement and so they thrash approximately for a number of mins after the injection. It isn't a horny sight. As for $four hundred to position one down. You forgot to say the rate of getting one hauled away to a rendering plant, seeing that you can not bury them such a lot areas anymore. And proper now in Florida, horse are being grew to become unfastened within the swamps for the gators, seeing that the homeowners cannot longer have the funds for the preservation. Do you now not believe that those horses aren't death on my own and terrified? What have you ever performed to ease to overpopulation? Donated? Rescued? Tried teaching folks at the motives to not overbreed? Be side of the answer. now not pat your self at the again for considering that the "torture" has stopped. It has simply taken on a brand new variety. Let me upload this: Maybe if the pony homeowners have been required to haul their possess horses to slaughter, exhibit evidence of a minimum of 6 months possession, and require the residences to preserve on dossier a picture and outline or a duplicate of the papers of every horse and a picture ID of the vendor on dossier for no less than a 12 months. This could get rid of the killer purchaser and having horses shipped on livestock vehicles. This would additionally support with horses which can be stolen. Just a idea
