You might be getting water in your plumbing vent, which could possibly block air and make it difficult for water to exit the system. You could put a cap over the vent to prevent this problem. Update: I suspect that your vent is at least partially clogged, and it gets worse when it rains. If this is the case, you need to have the vent cleared in addition to putting on a cap to prevent further clogging and rain issues. Some people suggest turning on a garden hose down the vent to push out any clogging debris.
