Do they need even need to get one done? Does the OBGYN use that tool when conducting one? Can a girl, that has never had intercourse before, have the possibility of having an ovarian cyst or ovarian cancer?

Pap smear tests can (and should) be done regularly for anyone, regardless of whether they are a virgin or not, or sexually active. Pap smears are always done the same way, so yes- they do use that tool.

It is also quite possible for a virgin to have ovarian cysts and/or ovarian cancer. These two things are entirely unrelated to sexual activity, although some STDs can increase your chances of getting them.

Yes it is important to get one even though you are not sexually active. I had an ovarian cyst when I was 15 and I was not sexually active at that age. Pap smears are usually done once a year if everything is ok but more like every 6 months if something is not normal. If is best to get it done and catch something early if there is a possiblity of someone having something. Good luck it isn't that bad.

my daughter is a virgin. i had her go down for a paps and to get on the birthcontrol pills to make her periods regular. plus i know she wont stay a virgin so i want her to be safe. they had her strip and put on a gown ( she had a lady dr) they did breast exam, and then did pelvic exam with the tool as u called it. if u tell ur dr its ur 1st time they will talk u thru it all. just cause u are a virgin dont man u cant have ovarian cyst or ovarian cancer. the most important thing to remeber is to relax. u can take a best friend with u if u want. she can sit down by ur head and hold ur hand. i went in ith my daughter and she has had many of her friends ask her about it and then asked her to go with her. and she did. no matter how many times u have it done we are all scared but is something that most be done. good luck

To answer all your questions: All females reguardless of their sex life need to get a pap smear, because you could still get cervical cancer. The doctor will use a speculum on you the most common size used is a Medium, however if you have never had intercourse then they may use a Small, it will be uncomfortable. Then they will take the sample from your cervix, then they will manually feel you ovaries. Once that is done you are finished. All females need to get it at least once a year. You could also get on birth control if your menses is irregular.

Yes, yes and yes. Although you aren't sexually active you still need to have the pap smear test done. It can detect many different things, other than the conditions you mentioned. I think 18 is when you are supposed to have your first one, if you are not sexually active. And yes they use the tool.
