Economics is such a wide spectrum medicine for almost all the spheres of human activity. Each and every activity being taken up by the mankind requires money which in turns is some how related to economics. Therefore, you have a number of options available for you like :
- Teaching profession - Daily we see a number of vacancies in different Universities etc.;
- Independent Consultancy for providing guidance related to Economics;
- Starting your own Coaching Classes for professional Exams. like Indian Economic Services or IAS etc.;
- Free lance writer on topics related to daily economic need.

You were a professor and you don't know, baffeling.

I majored in Econ and my professors all new what types of careers I could pursue with my degree. I would say go for the auto industry in Cost Benefit Analysis. With your experience in Econ, I would say that any industry would need statistics on CBA. Good luck you.

You could always go back to teaching

I think it depends upon your discipline. A labor economist and a financial economist are different catagories of jobs very clearly. Still, I think a consulting position in a firm like a Booz Allen Hamilton, or a Delloitte would be very reasonable.

If you have been recognised, then there should be no difficulty in getting a new job.
