Unfortunately I am an adult otherwise I would go to the dollar store buy some candy and go door to door. My poor girl has a tumor on the side of her body and they say it will cost anywhere from 700-1000 dollars to remove it and test it to see if it is cancer or not. I am very tapped out financially and just don't have the money but love my dog very much and feel that I hold the responsibility of making sure she gets the medical attention that she needs. I need some fund raising ideas. All Ideas are greatly appreciated. Or if anyone knows of any non profit organizations that can help me out that would be great. I seriously think there should be a non-profit organization that raises money for animals that need surgery. If there isn't one already, after I get through this I may look into what it takes to start one up. My love for animals is great and I would want to help everyone in my situation if I could. Thanks (I have no idea how to classify this question, sorry if I pick the wrong1)

chocolahoma, I understand where your coming from, though, my dog is very young only 3 years old. the vet said normally young dogs dont get cancer, normally the tumor is be-nine(sorry if that is wrong spelling) and once the tumor is removed there shouldn't be any further problems. It is a very small tumor about half the size of a dime. I have caught it very early on, and this is common. And she is a family member, if my child had a tumor I would pay to have it remove not the child put down. I am sorry for your loss of your kitty, I have poured money into exotic pets in the past and nothing good has ever come out of it. Though, dogs are the most common pet and the medicine is close to perfected for dogs. But thanks for your opinion. though I don't like it, you wrote it very gently.

I don't remember the name of the website, but there is a website that is dedicated to helping to raise money for veterinarian services for pets. I've been to the site before for a friend, but I can't remember what it was. Maybe someone here could help you locate it.

My answer is not intended to offend-- I am merely going to ask you to try to look at your situation dispassionately.

You need to put your dog down. It will cost 1/10 of the price of the surgery your vet is pushing on you.

You must understand, the thousand dollars is just a low-end estimate. After they open your dog on the operating table, they Will discover that the tumor has metastasized. The dog Will require more and more expensive treatments that will ultimately fail.

You will, by then, have spent three thousand dollars or more and will have absolutely nothing but sad memories of a sick friend to show for it. The dog will be just as gone as it would be if you say goodbye today.

I have experience in this. I once took a sick cat to the vet and ended up paying $500.00 that I couldn't afford trying to treat it. It died anyway-- and cats are free in any newspaper.

Put the dog down. Get a new pet later.
